Day Twenty One

Day Twenty One

    Everyone believes that love is important, but love is usually thought of as a feeling.  In reality, love is a choice and an action, as 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 shows;

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

    God is the source of our love: he loved us enough to sacrifice his Son for us.  Jesus is our example of what it means to love; everything he did in life and death was supremely loving.  The Holy Spirit gives us the power to love; he lives in our hearts and makes us more and more like Christ. God’s love always involves a choice and an action, and our love should be like his.

Application For Today

If God's love always involves a choice and an action, ours should too. Choose someone in your life. It can be a stranger, a family member, a co-worker, etc. Decide on a person and make a choice. Choose how you will serve them, love them, or make them feel special today. Follow this through with an action.
