On The First Day Of Christmas...

On The First Day Of Christmas...

If you ask any kid under the age of six what Christmas is about, you’ll no doubt get many different responses. You’ll probably hear something about toys, Santa Claus, the naughty and nice list, and maybe even a "Jesus" thrown in. Ask an adult and you'll get the grown-up version of a Christmas list as well. For some reason, our culture has turned Christmas into a time of overwhelming pressure to attend every party, taste all the holiday treats, get that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, make sure we don’t forget anyone on our Christmas card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card as well. Literally, the list goes on and on...

Amid the noise we hear and say "Jesus is the Reason for the Season" and "Keep Christ in Christmas”. However, what if we actually did just that? What if we prioritized Jesus the way He prioritized us? How can we turn the cliché of Christmas into the meaningful, life transforming gift that it truly is?

... just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
— Matthew 20:28

Application For Today

This action step is basic, but it's also day one. Say this prayer: "God, thank you for the gift of your son, Jesus. Amen."

*We thought a simple area to record your thoughts would be helpful so you don't have to keep switching apps and tabs. Just make sure to copy and paste today's notes into a more permanent application like Evernote before you navigate away from this page, or else the internet will eat them.
