The Friday 5 : Karolina Brandt

The Friday 5

Each week we are highlighting someone at Mission who will answer 5 questions! Our church may be growing, but getting to know your neighbors should never be hard to do.

Karolina Brandt

The Facts: Im a Registered Nurse for a residential women's treatment facility, we treat mood disorders, substance abuse, anxiety, depression etc etc... everyday is just as rewarding as it is challenging. I love my profession, but I do have many other loves, such as my family, I feel that watching the children grow as individuals, even as testing as it may be is truly amazing. I have a passion for photography, and reading. Whether from the lens of a camera or behind the lens of my eyes to the mind, there is so much creativity, beauty, and wonder that can be found in life, in words.

1. In one word how would your friends describe you?

Compassionate. Maybe its my profession that leads me to this but I feel that everyone should be shown an act of kindness or empathy.

2. What is playing on your radio, iPod, etc?

I was listening to Jack Johnson most of the day, (thanks to the Curious George movie), I have an eclectic taste depending on my moods. One moment its Tennessee Ernie Ford, then next thing you know I'm listening to Electronic Trance, but you won't ever catch me listening to 70's disco because I want to.

3. Who is the person who has had the biggest impact on your life?

My brother, he's passed, but in his short life I feel he had accomplished more then I could ever aspire to. From traveling to third world countries multiple times a year to help children be safe from predators, having his own successful business, and the importance of family. When I think of him, it makes me want to be better, do more.

4. Your last meal on earth would be where?

Thats a real tough one! I love to cook and eat meals but I believe simplicity would be best. A picnic on a beach with the people I love. Some good cheeses, meats, fruits bread and wine.

5. What is one thing you love about Mission?

The friendliness from everyone, from the moment you drive onto that parking lot you see a smiling face waving you in, and those smiling faces continue to follow throughout. I also absolutely love the giving back opportunities and events to the communities that it serves.
