The Friday 5 : Caila Bender

Each week we are highlighting someone at Mission who will answer 5 questions! Our church may be growing, but getting to know your neighbors should never be hard to do.

Caila Bender

The Facts:  I am currently studying physical education and health at NIU. I absolutely love it! I am a huge Blackhawks fan so, as you can imagine, this is my favorite time of year! I love being active and outside in my free time so if you are ever up for a quick soccer game, tennis match, or some beach volleyball let me know!

1. In one word how would your friends describe you?

Enthusiastic! I constantly have to monitor the amount of exclamation points I use in emails, text messages, and even this Friday Five form due to my enthusiasm. I love being excited about things, encouraging others, and having fun with friends, old and new! I love to laugh and just have a great time.

2. What is playing on your radio, iPod, etc?

I am all about "feel good" music. So I love upbeat music that just makes you want to get up and start moving to the music. Basically, I listen to anything from Simon and Garfunkel to Sara Bareilles.

3. Who is the person who has had the biggest impact on your life?

I would say that my mentor Kim Evans has had the largest and most positive impact on my life. The amount of wisdom this woman has is tremendous. She has been a living example of God's grace in my life and tenderly delivers loving truth to me. She constantly speaks encouragement and love over my life and I am blessed to know her. She has definitely been Jesus in the flesh to me throughout the years!

4. Your last meal on earth would be where?

A pulled pork sandwich with extra BBQ sauce and a side of sweet potato tots AND regular tots. For dessert, bubble gum ice-cream (I know thats a weird flavor choice).

5. What is one thing you love about Mission?

OK. I have to say a couple things because it is hard to choose just one thing. I absolutely love the worship and I get so pumped by our worship team! I also love how scriptural the teaching is, there's nothing compared to learning more about God and His Word. Lastly, I love how welcoming Mission is. From day one I have received warm hellos and new friends that have really made Mission feel like home.
