When it comes to tithing you'd think that the church would just stop talking about it. Why you ask? Because if you're still reading this you may be one of the few people that doesn't cringe at the "T" word.
There are many reasons for this response, however, one of the most obvious is this thought, "Here they go talking about money again..." Though the topic is financial, the purpose is so much more about our hearts. It just so happens that our wallets and hearts are often connected, in which case, it can elicit uncomfortable feelings when mentioned. However, what if all of us started to look at tithing through a different kind of lens?
How would tithing feel if, at a heart level, thankfulness (or gratitude) directed the action? Would joy begin to seep in? Would trust become deeper? Would blessings mean just a little bit more? We think so, and that's why we challenge everyone to answer this very simple question: what are you giving? The answer can be as simple as your ABC's. If we can Assess we're we're at, Believe God for direction, and Commit to a plan there is no telling the positive impact the local church can have.
Now, do we honestly think a blog post about tithing is going to convince anyone that tithing is so much more than the dollar amount you type into your phone? Of course not. Our hope is that we all begin to at least ask the question, "What am I giving?" and be able to articulate the reason for our answer.
In this season of thankfulness we've published our financial report for you to view and to join us in giving thanks to God for all He has blessed us with.
