As you begin this week, what are you fixing your thoughts upon...who are you fixing your thoughts upon? There are more Monday’s than I’d like to admit where I’m filled with discouragement. It’s kind of a pastor thing I guess and from what I’m told an NFL quarterback thing if you play for the Bears or Chiefs. You doubt, you question, you wish you had another crack at the message you worked so much on. You try to make sense of what you are seeing in contrast to the size of your prayers. You’ve expected God to show up in a certain way or have held in your mind how He might work. Like I said, Monday mornings are a fight to hold on to truth and faith. Its easy for me to surrender faith for anxiety, trust for self-reliance.
This excerpt is from my daily devotional that I go through...
“Time is a trainer, teaching you to wait upon Me, to trust Me in the dark. Instead of letting difficulties draw you into worrying, try to view them as setting the scene for My glorious intervention. Keep your eyes and your mind wide open to all that I am doing in your life.” -Sarah Young “Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence”
As we say "hello" to Monday, say "goodbye" to self-reliance, anxiety and trying to make God work according to "OUR" plans. Rest in the fact that HE is God and YOU are not. Rest in the fact that HE is FOR you and is at WORK in you and around you.
Have a great Monday!
